After all the rain we've had over the summer we were treated to a glorious day for Stuart's 5-a-side with Dedham 'A' eventually running out winners, emphatically beating Nacton 5-0 in the final.
With 30 teams in the competition the standard was very high. The likes of West Bergholt, Weeley, Alresford, Dedham, Boxted and Gas Recreation fielded strong teams with teams from Witham, Ipswich and Chelmsford also looking strong, making it impossible to predict a winner.
Eventually after some exciting games and some excellent football the semi finalists were Weeley, Nacton, The Goonies(Bergholt) and Dedham 'A'. Dedham overcame an excellent Bergholt side 3-2 with Dean Saunders scoring two well taken goals while Nacton overcame a well organised Weeley side. Dedham 'A' consisting of Steve Coote, Jamie Catney, Liam Macklin, Luke Manning, Dean Saunders, Michael Owen and Carl Marangou and expertly managed by Sean Catney took full advantage of Nacton's failing limbs to register a 5-0 win with Liam Macklin the star of the show with a four goal haul.
All in all an excellent day with everbody playing the game and enjoying the day in the spirit that Stuart would have appreciated. Stuart's sister Nicolette Fulton, expecting her first child shortly, presented the trophies to both finalists as well as the referee's.

Last but not least a big thank you to both Chris Clark and Danny Bell who must take a tremendous amount of credit for putting together such a successful day.
